Job Description
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective financial management. This role supervises accounting staff, supports financial analysis and planning, and assists management in monitoring financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and record monthly general journal entries.
- Prepare monthly trial balances and assist in the preparation of financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, statement of changes in equity, and statement of cash flows.
- Review supporting schedules related to financial statements.
- Assist in preparing financial projections and budget analyses.
- Monitor retained earnings and provide analysis to support compliance with applicable regulations.
- Prepare cash flow analysis and provide insights to support financial planning and decision‑making.
- Analyze operational expenses and other financial data as required.
Regulatory Compliance and Reporting
- Prepare and review required tax returns and other regulatory filings.
- Ensure timely submission of statutory reports and compliance with applicable government regulations.
- Monitor deadlines for permits, licenses, and other regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory auditors when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial reporting and taxation standards.
Accounts Payable and Financial Documentation
- Review financial documents and supporting records prior to processing payments.
- Verify completeness and accuracy of invoices, billing documents, and related records.
- Review and monitor vendor billings and service‑related expenses.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for accounting transactions.
Leadership and Process Improvement
- Supervise and guide accounting team members to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
- Review financial reports and analyses for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify process improvements to strengthen internal controls and reporting efficiency.
- Research and resolve accounting or financial issues as they arise.
- Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS), tax regulations, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Experience preparing regulatory reports and financial statements.
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with automation tools such as Excel Macros or Google Apps Script is an advantage.
