The Asian Institute of Maritime Studies is seeking a dedicated Accounting Associate to join our finance team on a full-time basis in Pasay City, Metro Manila. Qualifications

  • Completed tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, general ledger management and financial reporting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in processing financial information.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Reliable and committed to maintaining confidentiality of financial information.
  • Familiarity with audit procedures and compliance requirements is advantageous.
  • Experience in an educational institution or non-profit organisation is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Processing and recording financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers
  • Maintaining accurate accounting records and ledgers in accordance with GAAP
  • Reconciling bank statements and identifying discrepancies
  • Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and reports
  • Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Verifying and coding expense documents for appropriate account classification
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures
  • Responding to finance-related queries and providing administrative support to the finance team
  • Ensuring compliance with internal financial policies and external regulatory requirements
  • Performing data entry and maintaining organised financial documentation

About the role

The Asian Institute of Maritime Studies is seeking a dedicated Accounting Associate to join our finance team on a full-time basis. This role is located in Pasay City, Metro Manila and offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a respected maritime education institution. As an Accounting Associate, you will play a vital role in supporting the organisation's financial management, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This position is fundamental to the smooth operation of our finance department and directly supports the strategic objectives of the Institute.

What you’ll be doing
  • Processing and recording financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers
  • Maintaining accurate accounting records and ledgers in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Reconciling bank statements and identifying discrepancies
