Job summary

Oman Investment Authority seeks a Deputy Director to support the Scholarship Directorate in development planning, implementation and communication of the programme. The role focuses on mentoring, succession planning and ensuring continuous stakeholder engagement with scholars, parents and partners.

The incumbent will lead academic administrative tasks, fiscal planning and new program development, while acting for the Director when required and coordinating with international academic partners.

Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate from an internationally recognized and fully accredited university.
  • Academic administrative experience at the tertiary level, including teaching, evaluation, service and institutional management/accountability at a senior level for no less than 8 years.
  • Professional and academic credibility.
  • Experience engaging with national and international stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support development planning, implementation and communication of the programme.
  • MaintainMentoring and succession planning for sustainability of the programme.
  • Coordinate national and international liaison with academic institutions and partners.
  • Oversee student welfare, selection, placement, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Assist in policy development and new program design and budgeting processes.
  • Act for the Director in their absence and perform duties as assigned.

JOB PURPOSE

The Deputy Director supports the Scholarship Director in all facets of development planning implementation and communication of the programme the relationship will be one of mentoring and succession planning in anticipation of a continuing and sustainable programme S he will have responsibility to ensure that communications with stakeholders sponsors candidates scholars and parents are clear and continuous and will also assume responsibility for special projects and development of new programs as required and assigned In the absence of the Director the Deputy Director shall act in that capacity

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A blend of academic administrative outreach business development and management tasks to support all elements of the Scholarship Directorate including but not limited to Academic administrative and operational oversight National and international liaison with academic institutions Communications with parents students public and private sectors on all aspects of the programme Student welfare selection placement monitoring and evaluation Policy planning and development of new and existing programs Oversight of all technical areas required for the scholarship programs Support in strategic planning and financial and budgeting processes Works closely with Director in all areas of programme development and delivery Perform other duties as assigned or required by Scholarship Director

Many locations throughout the year local regional and international Stressful Requires a great deal of multi-tasking Evenings and weekends through national holidays Great deal of time on computer Connected to programme 24 7 through multi-media particularly during on-site elements

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Skills: Familiarity with national and international tertiary education systems Familiarity with learning culture of the Sultanate of Oman and learning styles of Omani students Excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English Good ICT skills for academic and administrative purposes Ability to multi-task and work effectively with a small team in a complex environment Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills Strong commitment to the goals of the Takatuf Scholarship Programmes Strong work ethic demonstrated in previous positions/accomplishments Comfort working in a dynamic environment and willingness to engage in all necessary tasks, large and small Demonstrated ability to maintain the integrity, security and transparency of academic processes Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from a broad spectrum of backgrounds, both nationally and internationally Demonstrated ability to accept delegated tasks, follow directions and complete assignments in a timely, accurate, effective and professional manner

Minimum Qualification/Experience

Earned doctorate from an internationally recognized and fully accredited university preferably earned 5 years ago or more. Academic administrative experience at the tertiary level, including teaching, evaluation, research, service and institutional management/accountability at a senior level for no less than 8 years in total.
