Job summary

ProMinent New Zealand, part of the global ProMinent Group, is seeking a motivated Trainee Service Technician based in Rangiora. Responsibilities

• Assist servicing, maintenance and commissioning of water treatment equipment.
• Travel across the South Island to support customer sites.
• Learn product operation through hands-on experience.
• Support senior technicians on installations, repairs and troubleshooting.
• Assist with workshop assembly, testing and preparation of equipment.
• Build technical knowledge for future roles in projects or technical sales.

Trainee Service Technician

As your experience grows, opportunities exist to progress into Project Engineering, Project Management, or Technical Sales roles.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assisting with the servicing, maintenance, and commissioning of water treatment and chemical dosing equipment.
• Travelling throughout the South Island to support customer sites.
• Learning how ProMinent products and systems operate through hands‑on experience.
• Supporting senior service technicians on installations, repairs, and troubleshooting activities.
• Assisting with workshop assembly, testing, and preparation of equipment.
• Building technical knowledge that can lead to future opportunities in projects, engineering support, or technical sales.

What We’re Looking For

• A strong electrical/mechanical or technical aptitude.
• A practical, hands‑on approach and willingness to learn.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel throughout the South Island as required.
• A current Full New Zealand Driver Licence is essential.
• Previous experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, engineering, or trade‑related work is advantageous but not essential.
• This role may also suit someone with an Electrical Service Technician (EST) licence who is looking to broaden their experience across service, commissioning, instrumentation, water treatment systems, project delivery, and technical sales.
• A genuine desire to build a long‑term career and develop new skills.
