Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

GTech designs, manufactures and services high-speed centrifuges used throughout the food, dairy, wastewater, energy and industrial sectors. We also provide precision engineering and maintenance services to a diverse range of industries, including aerospace, marine and power generation.

We're looking for an experienced Field Service Technician to join our Christchurch team.

This is a varied role that combines field service, workshop overhaul and new machine assembly. One day you could be diagnosing a customer's equipment on site, the next rebuilding a high-speed centrifuge in our modern workshop or commissioning a newly refurbished machine.

If you're someone who enjoys solving problems, working with quality equipment and taking pride in doing the job properly, we'd like to hear from you.

About the role

As part of our Service team, you will:

  • Service, maintain and repair industrial equipment both on customer sites and in our Christchurch workshop.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs.
  • Rebuild high-speed rotating equipment to exacting standards.
  • Install and commission new and refurbished machinery.
  • Work closely with customers to provide practical technical solutions.
  • Participate in a shared after-hours call-out roster.
  • Travel throughout New Zealand as required, with occasional overnight stays.

No two weeks are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety and thrives on new challenges.

About you

We're looking for a practical, self-motivated tradesperson with strong mechanical aptitude and excellent fault-finding skills.

You'll ideally have:

  • A trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting & Turning, Maintenance Engineering or similar.
  • Experience maintaining industrial machinery and mechanical plant.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a close-knit team.
  • A positive attitude and commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • A full New Zealand driver's licence.
  • Experience with centrifuges isn't essential—we'll provide comprehensive product training to the right person.

Applicants from a range of industrial backgrounds are encouraged to apply, including:

  • Mechanical fitting
  • Process plant maintenance
  • Pumps, compressors and rotating equipment
  • Food processing and dairy manufacturing
  • Wastewater treatment
  • Heavy industrial machinery

Competitive hourly rate based on your skills and experience.

Paid overtime.

Paid travel and call-out allowances.

A healthy mix of workshop and field service work.

Modern workshop with quality equipment and tooling.

Ongoing technical training and development.

Flexible working arrangements where practical.

Work on specialised, high-value industrial equipment rather than repetitive production machinery.

Join a stable, well-established New Zealand engineering company with customers throughout New Zealand and overseas.

If you're the sort of technician who enjoys diagnosing problems, getting your hands dirty, working with customers and tackling something different every week, we'd love to hear from you.

Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
