Job summary

Whangaparāoa College seeks an exceptional Teaching and Learning Lead for the Junior School (Years 7–8) to drive evidence-based pedagogy and build teacher capability across the newly formed three-school model.

The role focuses on implementing the Effective Teacher Profile, modelling practice, and providing professional coaching and learning within a collaborative culture. The fixed-term position runs for 2 years, starting 25 January 2027, at the Whangaparāoa campus in Auckland.

We are embarking on an exciting new vision for a 3-school model from the beginning of 2027.

Our kura is committed to highly effective, evidence-based pedagogy that strengthens curriculum delivery and enables us to know and grow every learner. We are seeking an exceptional pedagogical leader to build teacher capability and strengthen highly effective classroom practice across our Junior School. The Teaching and Learning Lead will lead the practical implementation of our Effective Teacher Profile through shared practices, professional learning, modelling and individualised instructional coaching.

Working alongside senior and middle leaders, you will translate best-evidence pedagogy into practical, high-impact classroom approaches. You will maintain exemplary teaching practice, build professional trust and use learner and teacher voice, achievement and engagement data to guide ongoing improvement.

We are looking for a credible, reflective and collaborative practitioner with expertise in instructional coaching, professional learning and culturally sustaining practice. You will know and grow teachers, influence practice positively and hold high expectations for teaching quality and learner outcomes.
