Job summary

Whangaparaoa College in Auckland is seeking an engaging and forward-thinking teacher to deliver the timetabled Gateway course for Years 12–13 learners. This role is a Curriculum Lead Gateway appointment fixed for two years and sits within the Community, Inclusion and Pathways area, working with the Head of Careers and Learner Pathways Coordinator.

We are seeking an engaging and future-focused teacher to teach our timetabled Gateway course for Years 12–13 learners. This is an exciting opportunity to join our forward-thinking school as we proactively respond to roll growth and the new curriculum.

Our kura delivers an innovative curriculum focused on knowing and growing learners as individuals. You will work in a well-supported Gateway learning programme that prepares learners to make the most of structured workplace learning, develop work-ready capabilities and understand the expectations of employers and industry.

Working within the Community, Inclusion and Pathways strategic area, and alongside our Head of Careers and Learner Pathways Coordinator, you will help learners connect their strengths, interests and experiences with meaningful next steps into employment, apprenticeships, further training or tertiary study.

We are looking for a positive, organised and relationship-focused teacher who can engage a diverse range of senior learners, build confidence and independence, and maintain high expectations for participation, progress and achievement. Experience of working in a pathways environment is highly desirable, as is a career development qualification or the desire to undertake such learning.
