Job summary

IDEA Services supports adults with intellectual disabilities to live in their own homes and enjoy life as part of their communities. You will be supporting people with intellectual disabilities living in their own homes to achieve their goals and aspirations, including night-time care and managing risks.

As a Support Worker you will assist with daily living, coordination of routines, and building independence, while staying connected to families and community networks.

Qualifications

• Preferably previous experience in caregiving or providing personal care for adults.
• A calm nature and confidence to work with challenging behaviours.
• Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and sleepover shifts.
• Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical fitness to provide necessary physical support.
• Full NZ driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Support people with intellectual disabilities living in their own homes to achieve their goals and aspirations.
• Support clients with complex needs, manage risk and ensure safety.
• Provide individual care throughout the night.
• Recognise and respond to emotional overwhelm, support independence and daily living skills.
• Assist with routines such as toileting, showering, dressing, meals and medication.
• Help clients pursue their goals, interests and hobbies while staying connected to whānau and community.

As a Support Worker you will be supporting clients with complex needs, managing risk, ensuring safety, and providing individual care throughout the night.
