Job summary

IDEA Services, part of the IHC New Zealand group, is seeking a Support Worker in New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty region. You will assist adults with intellectual disabilities living in their own homes, helping them reach goals with a caring, safe approach. The role includes split shifts, weekend work and a 44-hour fortnight schedule.

Previous caregiving experience is valued, with training opportunities available and the chance to grow within a premier disability-service provider in New Zealand.

Qualifications

• Experience in caregiving or personal care for adults preferred.
• Ability to work split shifts and weekends.
• Comfortable using computers and tablets daily.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Physically capable of providing necessary support.
• Hold a full NZ driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Support clients with intellectual disabilities to live at home and in the community.
• Assist with daily activities, manage risk and ensure safety.
• Engage with clients to help them achieve goals and aspirations.

As a Support Worker you will be supporting clients with various needs, managing risk and ensuring their safety. Previous relevant experience is preferred, but more importantly, we are looking for someone with varied life experience and an open-minded attitude.

• Preferably previous experience in caregiving or providing personal care for adults.
• A calm nature and confidence to work with challenging behaviours.
• Availability to work split shifts and weekends.
• Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical fitness to provide necessary physical support.
• Full NZ driver's license.
