Job summary

Pathways Health Ltd in Miramar, Wellington is hiring a Support Worker for a permanent 40-hour shift, Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00pm–7:30am. You will support tāngata whai ora toward independence in a non-hospital setting, with a focus on culture, safety and holistic wellbeing.

Requirements include NZCHW Level 4 or in progress, a current NZ driver’s licence, a first aid certificate or willingness to obtain one, and experience in care. Close date 16 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Relevant caregiving experience or similar supporting roles.
• Commitment to te Tiriti o Waitangi and working with Māori and Pasifika.
• Willingness to obtain or hold a current first aid certificate.

Responsibilities

• Support guests with budgeting and daily living tasks.
• Take comprehensive notes and provide clear handovers.
• Assist guests in regaining mental health and independence.
• Provide culturally competent care and companionship.
• Support with cleaning, cooking, and general house tasks.
• During night shifts, assist with filing, first aid and paperwork preparation.

This is a permanent 40-hour role working Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00pm to 7:30am, based in Miramar.

Our bespoke service is currently supporting three guests, each with their own unique journey. One of our guests requires specialised care due to complex physical and mental health needs, which include wheelchair utilisation and manual handling equipment.

As a Support Worker, some of your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting people with budgeting
• Comprehensive note-taking and handovers
• Supporting people regain their mental health and independence
• Provide culturally competent care
• Support people with independent daily living skills
• Support with cleaning, cooking, gardening or helping out with everyday household tasks.
• While the people you support are asleep, you’ll stay active with other tasks like cleaning, and helping the day shifts with maintaining filing systems, first aid kits, emergency kits and preparation of paperwork.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

• The New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) Level 4 or a recognised equivalent or be currently studying towards this qualification or a recognised equivalent.
• Support Worker experience or similar relevant experience
• A current full New Zealand driver’s licence
• A current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one
• Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and working with Māori and Pasifika.
