Job summary

OceanaGold Corporation is seeking a hands-on Supervisor - Site Services for the Waihi operation in New Zealand. The role focuses on supervising landscaping, property maintenance and site services in a residential Waihi setting.

You will lead contractors, manage safety, coordinate pre-shift meetings and ensure compliance with consent conditions. The position offers a 9-day fortnight, a residential Waihi assignment, and a competitive salary with bonus potential.

Qualifications

• Full and Current Driver Licence; ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and Outlook.
• At least 5 years’ experience in project management or contractor management; mining/engineering/construction background favored.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, plan, coordinate and complete operational, landscaping and property maintenance tasks with safety and compliance.
• Lead site services team, liaise with Property Manager and contractors, run pre-shift safety meetings.
• Develop service and supply contracts; supervise landscaping and gardening contractors; coordinate waste, fire system and building inspections.

Job Description

To Supervise, plan, coordinate and complete various operational, landscaping and property maintenance tasks alongside the Supervisor - Construction in a safe manner while ensuring compliance with relevant procedures, polices, legal requirements and consent conditions.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Site Services

• Liaising with OGNZ Property Manager and Contractors as required.
• Provide a leadership role to direct reports and external contractors.
• Run pre-shift safety meetings with teams as required.
• Assist with developing service and supply contracts as required.
• Supervise and co-ordinating landscaping and gardening services contractors (tree felling and general maintenance).
• Assisting Site Services team to manage external contractors and manage priorities on a daily basis.
• Co- ordinating waste management and disposal services.
• Co- ordinating fire system services contractors and ensure inspections are completed as required (Monthly/Quarterly/Annually).
• Co- ordinating and undertaking building compliance inspections. Ensuring company building compliance is maintained.
• Providing project management & maintenance of company properties as directed.
• To Develop and update relevant SOP’s and other specific documentation.
• To Maintain relationships with contractors to ensure that the requirements of OceanaGold are achieved.
• To Minimise costs and maximise benefits to the Company by contractors working on company assets when required.
• Monitoring departments INX tasks/actions and ensure tasks/actions are prioritised and actioned accordingly.
• Communication with lessee’s.

Landscaping and Maintenance

Supervising and coordinating maintenance and landscaping of residential properties, site and project work areas:

• Mowing/spraying/weed-eating/pest control – OceanaGold commercial, residential and domestic properties.
• Mowing/spraying/path maintenance - parks (Slevin Park, Black Hill, parts Pit Rim).
• Contractor supervision.
• Tree felling, pruning/small tree removal.
• Rubbish removal.
• New property overhaul (scrub-bar, rubbish, etc).
• Maintenance of walkways managed by the company.
• Fertilising and Mulching.
• Attend pre-shift safety and tool-box safety meetings.
• Report all incidents and near misses and workplace hazards.
• Ensure relevant fixed and mobile equipment is maintained, ensuring effective and efficient equipment operation in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
• Build and maintain effective relationships in order to retain a high-performance workforce through engagement, communication and motivation.
• Ensure appropriate professional development or training plans are in place to meet safety and process requirements and to harness the skills, competencies and potential that exists within the team.

Qualifications

• Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.

Experience:

• Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Experience with integrated purchasing/inventory systems, preferably PRONTO or similar.
• Practical use of various items of mobile plant, equipment and hand tools.
• At least 5 years’ experience in project management or contractor management role required, preferably in a mining, engineering or construction environment.
• Safety Conscious and Positive Work Attitude.
