Job summary

OceanaGold Corporation is seeking a Principal Driller to safely operate underground drill rigs in Waihi, New Zealand. This residential role avoids FIFO and offers a long-term position near stunning Coromandel beaches.

You will drill blast holes for stopes, support the services team, and mentor crew under a 7 on/7 off, 12-hour shift roster. Requirements include 2+ years underground mining experience, a current First Aid certificate, and a full driver’s license.

• Valid full driver's license (manual preferred).

Responsibilities

• Operate Top Hammer and ITHH drill rigs per plan.
• Perform risk assessments during duties.
• Conduct pre-start and shutdown checks on equipment.
• Prepare site, pack up and clean up, sign off on completion.
• Maintain drilling reports and note encountered issues.
• Mentor team, lead by example and ensure competency.

The Principal Position Objective of this role is to safely operate drill rigs for the purpose of drilling blast holes for stope production and for miscellaneous drilling. Provide support to the services section as and whenrequired.

• Perform risk assessments during course ofduties.
• Perform pre-start and shut-down checks on all equipment, ground conditions, consumables, survey and drillplans.
• Use Top Hammer and ITHH drill rigs to drill holes to pattern as per drill plans (make minor alterations asnecessary).
• Perform site prep, pack-up and cleanups on start-up and completion of jobs, sign off asrequired.
• Participate in shift changeover and pass on relevant information, fill out drilling report sheets accurately (including problems encountered, jobcondition).
• Mentor style approach for team work. Lead by example and fulfil all job roles trained and competentin.

Qualifications

• Trained and assessed as competent in the operation of production drills used onsite.
• First Aid Certificate.
• Current full driver licence (ability to operate manual vehicles ismandatory).
• A minimum of 2 years experience in underground mining.
