Job summary

OceanaGold is seeking a Supervisor - Site Services to lead and coordinate landscaping, maintenance and contractor work at its Waihi operation in New Zealand. You will supervise direct reports, run safety meetings, manage service contracts and ensure compliance with procedures and consent conditions.

The role requires 5+ years in project/contractor management, strong MS Office skills, and a current driver licence.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years’ experience in project management or contractor management in mining, engineering or construction.
• Intermediate MS Word, Excel and Outlook skills.
• Full and current driver licence; manual driving preferred.
• Experience with PRONTO or similar inventory systems.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate landscaping/maintenance contractors.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, plan, coordinate and complete site services tasks alongside the Supervisor - Construction.
• Lead safety meetings, manage external contractors and service contracts.
• Coordinate waste, fire system, and building compliance inspections.
• Develop SOPs and documentation; maintain relationships with contractors.
• Monitor tasks to prioritise actions and optimise costs for OceanaGold.

Supervisor - Site Services (2 Year Fixed Term Contract or Secondment)

Our Waihi Operation in the North Island of New Zealand is an underground gold mine.A recent consent for the Waihi North Project, a new mine to be developed 6km north of the existing operation has provided a long-term extension of mine life providing our 400+ staff and contractors, and the people of Waihi, an assurance that we plan to be here for the long-term.

To Supervise, plan, coordinate and complete various operational, landscaping and property maintenance tasks alongside the Supervisor - Construction in a safe manner while ensuring compliance with relevant procedures, polices, legal requirements and consent conditions.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Site Services

• Liaising with OGNZ Property Manager and Contractors as required.
• Provide a leadership role to direct reports and external contractors.
• Run pre-shift safety meetings with teams as required.
• Assist with developing service and supply contracts as required.
• Supervise and co-ordinating landscaping and gardening services contractors (tree felling and general maintenance).
• Assisting Site Services team to manage external contractors and manage priorities on a daily basis.
• Co- ordinating waste management and disposal services.
• Co- ordinating fire system services contractors and ensure inspections are completed as required (Monthly/Quarterly/Annually).
• Co- ordinating and undertaking building compliance inspections. Ensuring company building compliance is maintained.
• Providing project management & maintenance of company properties as directed.
• To Develop and update relevant SOP’s and other specific documentation.
• To Maintain relationships with contractors to ensure that the requirements of OceanaGold are achieved.
• To Minimise costs and maximise benefits to the Company by contractors working on company assets when required.
• Monitoring departments INX tasks/actions and ensure tasks/actions are prioritised and actioned accordingly.
• Communication with lessee’s.

Landscaping and Maintenance

Supervising and coordinating maintenance and landscaping of residential properties, site and project work areas:

• Mowing/spraying/weed-eating/pest control – OceanaGold commercial, residential and domestic properties.
• Mowing/spraying/path maintenance - parks (Slevin Park, Black Hill, parts Pit Rim).
• Contractor supervision.
• Tree felling, pruning/small tree removal.
• New property overhaul (scrub-bar, rubbish, etc).
• Maintenance of walkways managed by the company.
• Fertilising and Mulching.
• Attend pre-shift safety and tool-box safety meetings.
• Report all incidents and near misses and workplace hazards.
• Ensure relevant fixed and mobile equipment is maintained, ensuring effective and efficient equipment operation in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
• Build and maintain effective relationships in order to retain a high-performance workforce through engagement, communication and motivation.
• Ensure appropriate professional development or training plans are in place to meet safety and process requirements and to harness the skills, competencies and potential that exists within the team.

• Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.

Experience:

• Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Experience with integrated purchasing/inventory systems, preferably PRONTO or similar.
• Practical use of various items of mobile plant, equipment and hand tools.
• At least 5 years’ experience in project management or contractor management role required, preferably in a mining, engineering or construction environment.
• Safety Conscious and Positive Work Attitude.
