The ideal candidate has a National Diploma or Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, 4+ years’ experience, and a proactive problem-solving mindset. A strong safety culture and accurate reporting are essential to success.

About the Role

Our client, a well-established construction group known for executing major civil engineering projects, requires a diligent Site Engineer to join their team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape . This role is fundamental to ensuring the smooth execution of on-site construction activities, focusing on quality control, technical problem-solving, and adherence to project specifications. You will work closely with the site management team, subcontractors, and consulting engineers to deliver projects successfully. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of construction methodologies, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving site challenges. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily construction activities on site to ensure adherence to plans and specifications.
• Implement and monitor quality control procedures throughout the construction process.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Assist the Project Manager and Construction Manager in planning and scheduling site works.
• Manage site resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.
• Identify and report on any technical issues or deviations from the project plan.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
• Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of work.
• Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, progress updates, and material quantities.
• Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and project close-out documentation for projects in Queenstown .

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Site Engineer or in a similar role on civil engineering or construction projects.
• Proven experience in supervising construction activities and quality assurance.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety practices.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Good organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Proficiency in using surveying equipment and basic project management tools.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and under pressure.
• Familiarity with projects in the Eastern Cape would be an advantage.
• Valid driver's license.
