Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Site Engineer for a reputable road infrastructure project in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will oversee daily site activities, ensure work aligns with drawings, specifications, and quality standards, and maintain a safe working environment.

The role requires hands-on site presence, with responsibility for earthworks, drainage, and coordination with subcontractors, suppliers, and the site team to meet project deadlines and client expectations.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in civil engineering must be relevant to site engineering.
• Ability to interpret civil drawings and specifications.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Tech Eng or Pr. Eng) is advantageous.
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Site Engineer, focusing on road construction and earthworks.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations on construction sites.
• Strong organizational, supervisory, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to work on site full-time.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage daily construction activities on site, including earthworks, paving, and drainage.
• Ensure construction work aligns with project drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Implement and enforce site safety procedures and regulations for a safe environment.
• Conduct quality control checks on materials and workmanship and rectify defects.
• Manage site resources (labor, plant, equipment) for efficient progress.
• Coordinate with site agent, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve issues.
• Take accurate site measurements and prepare progress reports daily/weekly.
• Assist in preparing method statements, risk assessments, and work permits.
• Maintain site records (daily logs, deliveries, safety inspections).
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and site management plans.
