Job summary

Medical Assurance Society NZ is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer, Security to join our IT Operations team on a 12-month fixed term basis. The role supports secure operation of our infrastructure, cloud platforms, networks and end-user services, working with internal teams, vendors, and security partners.

Based in Wellington or Auckland, it offers varied responsibilities and growth in a security-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting Windows, Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Strong infrastructure administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of identity and access management, vulnerability management, monitoring and endpoint security.
• Experience with Microsoft security technologies such as Entra ID, Defender, Intune or Sentinel.
• Networking experience, ideally in Cisco environments.
• Exposure to incident response, risk reduction and security improvement initiatives.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, customer-focused approach.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and industry certifications across Microsoft, cloud, networking or cyber security disciplines will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the secure operation of infrastructure, cloud services and business-critical systems.
• Managing server, network and cloud environments, including patching, upgrades and secure configuration.
• Investigating and resolving complex incidents and operational issues.
• Supporting vulnerability management, security monitoring and endpoint protection activities.
• Contributing to disaster recovery, business continuity and operational resilience initiatives.
• Providing technical guidance to colleagues and stakeholders while supporting continuous improvement across IT Operations.
