Stats NZ in Wellington is seeking a Senior Security/DevSecOps Solutions Engineer to lead the Security Uplift Programme. You will design secure cloud and application solutions, working across delivery teams, infra engineers, and data specialists.

This fixed-term role focuses on security-by-design, risk reduction, and compliance across cloud and development environments. You will collaborate with senior architects and project managers, ensuring practical security controls while balancing

Qualifications

• Security-first mindset with privacy and security-by-design
• Strong collaboration across delivery teams, infra, architects, and data specialists
• Excellent communication and documentation translating complex concepts
• Deep knowledge of cloud security practices, controls and standards
• Experience identifying and mitigating security risks in cloud and development environments

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure cloud, infrastructure, middleware and application solutions.
• Provide technical leadership on architecture and design for security uplift.
• Support adoption of secure cloud technologies across teams.
• Build relationships across the Technology Services branch to strengthen security capability.
• Mentor other staff and contribute to security governance and risk management.
