Job summary

Stats NZ Tatauranga Aotearoa seeks a Senior Security/DevSecOps Solutions Engineer for a 12‑month fixed‑term role in Wellington. You will lead architecture and design of secure cloud, middleware, and applications, embedding privacy and security‑by‑design across delivery teams.

You will collaborate across teams, strengthen security controls, and drive secure cloud adoption while contributing to resilience across government data systems.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on engineer with a security‑first mindset and security‑by‑design in cloud and application environments.
• Strong collaboration across delivery teams, infrastructure engineers, architects, and data specialists.
• Deep knowledge of cloud security practices, controls, and standards with practical application.
• Experience identifying, assessing, and mitigating security risks and supporting compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on the architecture and design of secure cloud, infrastructure, middleware, and application solutions.
• Support the adoption of secure cloud technologies and build strong relationships across the Technology Services branch.
• Collaborate with a specialist team including architects and project managers to strengthen security capability and resilience.
