Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a fully remote role. You will drive the complete mechanical design lifecycle for sophisticated robotic systems, including manipulators and end‑effectors, from concept to prototyping and testing.

You will lead multi‑discipline collaboration with software, electrical, and control teams, mentor junior engineers, and influence IP development. Master’s in mechanical or robotics engineering plus 7+ years in robotics design are required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical or Robotics Engineering required.
• 7+ years of professional mechanical design experience with robotics or automation.
• Experience designing complex multi‑axis mechanisms and precision components.
• Advanced CAD and simulation skills (3D CAD, FEA, motion analysis).
• Strong mechatronics understanding, sensors, actuators, and control concepts.
• Materials selection and manufacturing process knowledge for robotics.
• Excellent problem solving, analytical and communication skills, especially remotely.
• Ability to manage design projects independently and meet deadlines.
• Experience with scripting or programming for design automation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced robotic mechanisms, actuators, and end‑effectors.
• Perform kinematic/dynamic analysis, stress simulations, and tolerance analysis.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly instructions, and BOMs.
• Collaborate with remote software, electrical, and control teams to integrate designs.
• Oversee prototyping, troubleshoot issues, and iterate designs.
• Ensure manufacturability, cost efficiency, and scalability of designs.
• Stay updated on robotics, mechatronics, and automation tech.
• Contribute to IP development and technical documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership remotely.
