Job summary

AllRecruits is seeking a Senior Project Manager in New Zealand to deliver commercial transportable building projects from tender handover through design, manufacturing, transportation, site installation, commissioning and closeout.

You will oversee safety, programme, budget, quality, risk management and client relationships, acting as the primary contact for clients and consultants to ensure profitable, on-time delivery to high standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8-10 years' experience in commercial construction project management.
  • Extensive experience administering construction contracts.
  • Strong understanding of project financial management and cost control.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple transportable building projects simultaneously.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project programmes, milestones, and delivery plans.
  • Coordinate design, manufacturing, logistics, transportation, site works, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations, client requirements, and company standards.
  • Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and report progress to senior management.
  • Administer construction contracts and ensure compliance with all contractual requirements.
  • Review, interpret, and manage contract conditions, specifications, drawings, and scope requirements.
  • Manage contract correspondence and maintain comprehensive project records.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and administer subcontract agreements.
  • Assess, negotiate, and manage variations, extensions of time, claims, and contractual disputes.
  • Identify and mitigate contractual risks throughout the lifecycle of projects.
  • Ensure all project documentation is maintained in accordance with company procedures.
  • Work with QS department tomanage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
  • Monitor project profitability and implement strategies to maximise financial performance.
  • Track and report project financial performance, including cost to complete and cash flow forecasts.

Job description

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of commercial transportable building projects, overseeing all aspects of project execution from tender handover through design coordination, manufacturing, transportation, site installation, commissioning, and final project closeout.

The role has full responsibility for project performance, including safety, programme, budget, quality, risk management, client relationships, subcontractor management, and contract administration. The Senior Project Manager acts as the primary point of contact for clients and consultants and ensures projects are delivered safely, profitably, on time, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
  • Lead and manage multiple transportable building projects simultaneously.

Client and Stakeholder Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Act as the primary client contact throughout project delivery.
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular project status updates.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support business development activities and contribute to repeat business opportunities.
Design and Manufacturing Coordination
  • Coordinate internal and external design teams to ensure buildability and project requirements are achieved.
  • Oversee design reviews and design approval processes.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure production schedules align with project programmes.
  • Coordinate site establishment, transport logistics, cranage, and building installation activities.
  • Ensure all site works are completed in accordance with project specifications, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor contractor performance and compliance with quality and safety requirements.
  • Manage defects, commissioning activities, practical completion, and project handover.
Qualifications
