Job summary

Archway Recruitment is seeking an Intermediate Project Manager for a New Zealand construction consultancy. You will contribute to a diverse portfolio of building projects, from procurement through to completion, ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to budget and quality standards.

You will join a high-performing team, coordinating with clients, contractors and consultants to drive successful project outcomes and ongoing development within the consultancy sector.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years' experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience with contractor, consultancy, developer or client-side environments.
  • Tertiary qualification in Construction, Building Science, Architecture, Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build stakeholder relationships.
  • Professional and proactive approach to project delivery.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Establish strong client and stakeholder relationships across project teams.
  • Prepare contract documentation, manage tender processes and assist with contractor appointments.
  • Programme and coordinate building works through the project lifecycle.
  • Manage site instructions, design coordination and cost implications.
  • Monitor progress, report against programmes and develop mitigation plans for time risks.
  • Oversee project risks, contingency allowances and ensure quality assurance during delivery.
  • Support project reporting and stakeholder communication throughout delivery.

About The Organisation

Our client is an established project management consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality building and property projects across New Zealand. Working across a diverse range of sectors, they provide expert project management services and are recognised for their collaborative culture, technical expertise and commitment to achieving excellent outcomes for their clients.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Intermediate Project Manager to join their team and contribute to the successful delivery of a varied portfolio of construction projects.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has already established themselves within the construction industry and is looking to further develop their consultancy project management career.

Working within a high-performing team, you will be involved in the delivery of projects from procurement through to construction completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard.

Projects include new builds, refurbishments, repairs and alterations across a range of building sectors.

Key Responsibilities Include
  • Establish strong working relationships with clients, contractors, consultants and key stakeholders.
  • Prepare contract documentation, manage tender processes and assist with contractor appointments.
  • Programme and coordinate building works throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage site instructions, contract clarifications and design coordination between project parties.
  • Monitor project progress and report against project programmes.
  • Develop mitigation plans to manage programme risks and time overruns.
  • Monitor site instructions and variations against project cost plans.
  • Manage project risks and contingency allowances to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Undertake site observation, construction monitoring and quality assurance activities.
  • Support project reporting and stakeholder communication throughout delivery.
Role Requirements

To be successful in this position you will ideally bring:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience within the construction industry.
  • Experience working for a contractor, consultancy, developer or client-side organisation.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Construction, Building Science, Architecture, Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across a range of stakeholders.
  • A professional and proactive approach to project delivery.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A genuine desire to develop a long-term career in consultancy project management.
