Job summary

Randstad Australia is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial fitout and refurbishment projects from pre-construction through to handover in the CBD fringe of Victoria. This role requires strong leadership and a hands-on approach to delivery.

You will set up schedules, manage budgets and procurement, oversee subcontractors, ensure quality and contract compliance, and mentor a high‑performing project team while maintaining safety and client relationships.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of PM experience on commercial fitout and refurb projects.
• Experience in Health or Tertiary Education projects is a major plus.
• Strong budgeting and cost-control skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects end-to-end from day one to final sign-off.
• Set up project schedules, manage budgets, and handle procurement.
• Oversee subcontractors, contract administration, and reporting.
• Ensure work meets quality standards, specs, and contract requirements.
• Monitor project finances and bottom-line performance.

This builder generally focuses on projects up to $25 million and have experience delivering works in live and sensitive environments.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, you'll run projects from pre-construction right through to handover and defect liability. You'll lead high-performing teams, manage the details, and make sure we deliver great outcomes for our clients.

What you'll be doing

• Managing projects end-to-end, from day one through to final sign-off
• Setting up project schedules, managing budgets, and handling procurement
• Managing subcontractors, contract admin, and regular project reporting
• Making sure all work hits quality standards, specs, and contract requirements
• Keeping a close eye on project finances and bottom-line performance
• Keeping safety (WHS&E) and risk management top of mind
• Building solid working relationships with clients, consultants, and subbies
• Mentoring and leading your project team

What we're looking for

• Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or similar
• 5+ years of experience delivering commercial fitout and refurb projects as a Project Manager
• Experience in Health or Tertiary Education projects is a major plus
• Solid commercial skills, particularly around budgeting and cost control
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Good grasp of buildability, construction methods, risk, and site safety
• Proven experience mentoring and bringing out the best in a team
