Job summary

Pathways Health Ltd in Christchurch is seeking a Senior Peer Support Specialist to lead a 3–4 person team in our 24/7 Peer Acute Alternative Service. Your own lived experience will guide recovery-focused support for people stepping away from hospital admission.

In this senior role, you’ll coach on shift, provide person-centred care, and help shape a supportive environment. Leadership, resilience and effective delegation are essential.

Qualifications

• Lived experience of mental health journey essential.
• Leadership or management experience required.
• NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing Level 4 (or working towards it).
• Full NZ driver licence and current first aid certificate (or willingness to get one).
• Eligibility to work in Aotearoa is required.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor 3–4 team members on shift.
• Provide culturally safe, person-centred support.
• Complete admin tasks, write notes, and handovers.
• Provide medication support when needed.

• Leadership/managerial experience is essential + Wed- Sat 3pm – 11.30pm

Summary

This senior role uses your ownlived experience of mental health and strong leadership skills to guide a smallteam and support people in our 24/7 Peer Acute Alternative Service, basedin Christchurch.

The role is 32 hours per week working Wednesdayto Saturday 3pm – 11.30pm.

In this senior role, you’ll coachand guide 3–4 team members, provide leadership on shift, and help shape asupportive, recovery-focused environment. Strong leadership, delegation skills,and confidence in managing others are a big part of what will help you thrivehere.

As a Senior Peer Support Worker,you will:

• Coach and mentor Peer Support Specialistsalongside the Team Coach
• Provide culturally safe, person-centredsupport
• Complete admin tasks, write comprehensivenotes, communicate clearly in handovers, and work closely with the widerteam
• Provide medication support when needed
• Support people with day‑to‑day living skills —whatever it takes

About you | Mōu

Your lived experience is centralto this role. You’ll use your own recovery tools and insights to support peopleon their journey.

You’ll also bring:

• Previous leadership, team‑leading, ormanagement experience
• Working well under pressure
• Effective conflict resolution skills
• Resilience
• Peer Employment Training (PET) or IntentionalPeer Support (IPS), plus Crisis Prevention Intervention training
• WRAP training
• NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing Level4 (or working towards it)
• At least 18 months of wellnesswith no hospitalisations
• A full NZ driver licence
• A current first aid certificate (orwillingness to get one)
• Eligibility to work in Aotearoa
