The Service
We are building an exciting, new peer-led community-based acutealternative to hospital within the central Auckland Te Toka Tumai region. Thisis an opportunity for you to step into an exciting Peer Support Specialist role.You will be working alongside others with lived and living experience who are trained to deliver inspiring peerservices alongside clinical kaimahi. As kaimahi you will use recovery tools,models, and practices to inspire resilience, hope, and wellbeing.The service will bedelivered in partnership with other mental health and addiction providers andwill be informed by a rights and values-based approach to care. You’ll be reporting to a Senior Peer SupportSpecialist and Team Coach while working with the support of your extensiveteam.
The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
In this role, you will intentionally draw on your lived or livingexperience to support others on their recovery journey, using your peer supporttraining while upholding peer values and competencies in all aspects of yourpractice. You will provide compassionate support to acute tāngata whai orastaying at at the service as a community-based alternative to hospital care,helping to create a safe, welcoming, and recovery-focused environment. You willalso support all aspects of tāngata whai ora wellbeing, recovery, andself-determination throughout their stay.
These are permanent full-time roles, based in Auckland Central.
We have a number of different shift patterns below to fill. Please specifywhich shift you are interested in in your cover letter;
Day Shifts:
Sunday to Thursday (AM and PM shifts)
Tuesday to Saturday (AM and PM shifts)
Friday to Monday (AM and PM shifts)
AM Shift: 7:00am to 3:30pm
PM Shift: 3:00pm to 11:30pm
Night Shifts:
Sunday to Thursday (Night shift)
Tuesday to Saturday (Night shift)
Friday to Monday (Night shift)
Night Shift: 11:00pm to7:30am

We would love to hear from peers who are at a stage in theirwellbeing journey where they are ready to support others in theirs. Alongsideyour lived or living experience and strong interpersonal skills, you will havethe ability to build meaningful relationships and work collaboratively with TeWhatu Ora, PHOs, and the wider community sector. You will be excited by theopportunity to join a new peer-led team that supports recovery, connection, andhope.
