Job summary

Hellers Ltd, based at the Kaiapoi site in New Zealand, seeks a Senior Helpdesk Operator to keep the network, servers and IT infrastructure running smoothly. You will support factory floor systems and office tech, deliver user support, and contribute to IT projects within a manufacturing environment.

The role requires 3–5 years of IT user support, Windows server and network experience, and strong communication skills. NZ residency or work visa is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IT user support across the Kaiapoi site and remote teams.
  • Maintain Windows server and network systems to ensure uptime.
  • Support factory floor machinery and office equipment with IT solutions.
  • Develop IT projects and implement strategic IT initiatives.

We are seeking a talented Senior Helpdesk Operator to join our IT team at our Kaiapoi plant. This is a hands-on-role where you will be charged with keeping the network, hardware and servers for the site up and always running.

You will be providing a wide range of technical assistance to systems users while making sure programming meets business needs. Your previous experience within a manufacturing work environment will help you ensure everything from our factory floor machinery to office equipment is working accurately and efficiently. This can include network and hardware maintenance, delivering desktop and software support to the team, operating system installation, and as well as developing IT solutions in the form of projects.

You will have a real can-do attitude and enjoy being part of a diverse wider team. It’s vital our operations run to schedule so you will be responsible for resolving any issues quickly and effectively. IT qualified or with equivalent industry experience, you will have the support of the rest of the IT team in Kaiapoi, Auckland and in Australia, with whom you’ll engage on organisational IT initiatives and strategy implementation.

Skills required for this role:
  • IT Qualification or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience of IT user support.
  • 3-5 years’ experience with MS Windows server systems.
  • 3-5 years’ experience with network systems.
  • IT support experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical users.
  • Comfortable and familiar with computers and various start-ups.
  • MS Office/O365 and SharePoint administration experience.
  • Exposure to systems such as Surveillance Camara Systems, Access Control Systems, IP Telephony Systems, Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP Systems and SQL Database Management would be highly advantageous.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks/projects.
  • Proactive and able to take initiative.
  • Resilient and Persevering.

The location for this role is based at our Kaiapoi site.
