Job summary

Hellers Ltd is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to support Kaiapoi operations, including a factory, product development, and warehousing logistics. The role focuses on fault finding, breakdown repairs, and preventative maintenance to keep plant operations running efficiently.

You will also assist with equipment project works, while contributing to site H&S and environmental systems. This position is based in Kaiapoi, New Zealand, with a night shift roster.

Qualifications

• Mechanical maintenance trade qualification required.
• Experience in an FMCG production environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve process line breakdowns and operating issues.
• Complete equipment repairs and servicing within allocated timeframes.
• Complete allocated tasks to required quality and performance standards.
• Lead engineering projects to continuously improve plant operations.
• Maintain site health and safety and environmental systems and processes.
• Follow Safety Always behaviours when working with the engineering team.

We are looking for an experienced and talented Maintenance Engineer based in Kaiapoi, where we operate a factory, product development and warehousing & logistics facilities and maintain our head office. The purpose of this position is to provide engineering maintenance support to the plant operations including process line fault finding, breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance tasks.

You would be assisting with other engineering tasks as requested including Equipment Project works.

Key Skills Required

• Mechanical Maintenance Trade Qualification.
• Ability to work in an FMCG Production team environment.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Safety focused including the ability to identify and resolve hazards across Engineering and Plant Operations.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Ensuring priority response and resolution to any process line breakdowns/operating issues.
• Complete equipment repairs and servicing within allocated timeframes.
• Completion of all allocated tasks to the required quality and performance expectations.
• Implement engineering projects to ensure the plant is continually improving and meeting business needs.
• Maintaining site H&S and environmental systems and processes.
• Follow all applicable “Safety Always” behaviour when working as part of the engineering team.

Specific Conditions For This Role Are

• This is a night shift, working from 7:30pm till 5:30am
• This is a fixed night rostered shift, working 7 days on / 7 days off, based on an average of 30 hours per week
• Some avalibility needed outside of normal working hours as and when required.
