Job summary

Mercury NZ Limited is seeking a Senior Derivatives Trader in Auckland to develop and execute trading strategies across electricity derivatives, including NZ futures and FTRs. You will market-make on NZ futures, manage portfolio risk, and advance models and algorithmic trading tools while mentoring teammates.

You will work with the Head of Derivatives Trading to optimize generation and retail portfolio performance, using strong mathematical and programming skills and Excel for decision support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, economics, commerce or science.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Proven track record in electricity derivatives trading.
• Programming capability and Excel proficiency.
• Experience with NZ electricity futures and FTRs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute proprietary trading strategies across electricity derivatives.
• Market make NZ electricity futures on the ASX and manage portfolio orders.
• Develop hedging strategies to manage portfolio exposure.
• Improve trading models and deploy algorithmic trading tools.
• Build relationships with brokers and market participants within risk limits.
• Mentor colleagues and share market insights.
