About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Building Maintenance Technician to join their remote operations team, overseeing facilities across various sites. While based operationally in Queenstown, Eastern Cape, this role is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be responsible for the proactive and reactive maintenance of building systems, ensuring all facilities operate efficiently and safely. This includes managing a range of responsibilities from general repairs to specialized system upkeep, such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural integrity. As a senior member, you will also play a role in mentoring junior staff, managing maintenance schedules, and ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned maintenance professional to leverage their broad skill set in a flexible, remote work environment. Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive preventative and corrective maintenance on all building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural components.
• Diagnose and repair a wide variety of building system issues promptly and efficiently.
• Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify potential hazards and maintenance needs.
• Manage and coordinate maintenance activities, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact.
• Oversee minor repair and renovation projects, ensuring quality and timely completion.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance performed, parts used, and costs incurred.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests and provide on-site supervision or guidance remotely.
• Procure necessary parts and materials for maintenance and repair activities.
• Assist in developing and implementing maintenance strategies and plans.

Requirements

• A relevant trade qualification (e.g., electrician, plumber, HVAC technician) or equivalent extensive experience.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in building maintenance and facility management.
• Demonstrated expertise across multiple building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, etc.).
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical schematics.
• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is a plus.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with contractors and stakeholders remotely.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively in a remote setting.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for potential on‑site assessments (though the role is primarily remote).
