Job summary

Central Regional Health School Wellington is seeking an experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and Learning Support Coordinator (LSC) to lead and coordinate learning support services for students whose health or wellbeing needs impact their educational engagement and achievement.

This role requires identifying and monitoring learning support, coordinating IEPs and transition planning, building teacher capability in inclusive, trauma-informed practice, and working with whānau,

Qualifications

• This role requires NZ registered teacher status with experience supporting diverse health/learning needs.
• Knowledge of inclusive education and learning support systems is essential.
• Strong partnerships with whānau and multidisciplinary teams are needed.
• Excellent communication, organisational and case-management skills are required.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice.
• Ability to work independently across a geographically dispersed region.

Responsibilities

• Lead identification, coordination and monitoring of learning support for students with diverse needs.
• Coordinate IEPs and transition planning for students' learning journeys.
• Build teacher capability in inclusive, trauma-informed practice.
• Collaborate with whānau, health professionals, enrolling schools and agencies.
• Coordinate access to specialist services and learning support pathways.
• Contribute to strategic planning and inclusive school-wide practices.
• Advocate for students and ensure their voice informs decisions.
