Role Description

The Security Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Wellington. This role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining security systems, including alarms, access control, and surveillance equipment. The Security Technician will perform routine inspections, diagnose and resolve technical issues, and ensure systems operate effectively and comply with safety and security standards. Day-to-day tasks include working with networked security devices, documenting work performed, supporting cybersecurity measures related to physical security systems, and collaborating with colleagues and clients to address security concerns. The role also requires adherence to occupational health and safety practices while working on-site and in client environments.

Qualifications

• Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining security systems and related hardware.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity and network security principles as they apply to connected security devices and systems.
• Experience with alarm systems, access control, and surveillance technologies, including installation and configuration.
• Understanding of occupational health and safety requirements when working on-site and at client locations.
• Relevant technical certification or qualification in electronics, IT, or security systems (or equivalent practical experience).
• Ability to read technical diagrams and manuals, and maintain clear documentation of work and system configurations.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and clients.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally to client sites as needed.
