Job description

Carbon Security Limited – Christchurch, South Island

Are you a technical specialist who enjoys the complexity of large-scale commercial projects & systems?

Carbon Security Limited is a growing electronic security integration company based in Christchurch, New Zealand. Since our founding in 2018, we have built a reputation for providing exceptional service, honest advice, and reliable solutions using proven high-quality security products. We continue to grow steadily, with much of our success driven by positive word-of-mouth and the trust we earn through completing good work for our clients.

Our focus is on forming strong relationships with our clients by prioritising their needs and delivering on them. We do not profess to be the biggest security integrator, but we are focused on being the best company for employees to work for, and for clients to work with.

We are looking for a senior-level Electronic Security Technician to perform commercial installations and service delivery across Christchurch and beyond. From multi-story office buildings to high-security commercial sites, you will be responsible for ensuring our clients' people and most valuable assets are protected by world-class technology.

The Work You'll Own
  • Enterprise Security: Installation and commissioning of high-end platforms like Inner Range Integriti, Gallagher Command Centre and Siemens SiPass.
  • IP Surveillance: Deploying advanced Video Management Systems (VMS) such as Milestone, Geutebruck, Axis and NX Witness, including AI analytics.
  • Compliance: Ensuring all work meets AS/NZS standards in Electronic Security.
  • Networking: Working alongside client IT departments to manage VLANs, PoE budget calculations, and secure remote access.
  • Commissioning: Taking a project from a pile of boxes to a fully programmed, client-ready security ecosystem.
  • Leading by Example: As one of our most experienced team members, you'll set the standard on site — not just in the quality of the install, but in how we scope, document and communicate our work. There's real opportunity here to share what you know, help upskill our technicians, and shape the way we do things.
What Makes You the Right Fit?
  • Experience: 5+ years industry experience in commercial security.
  • Certifications: You've achieved certifications in common enterprise CCTV and access control systems.
  • Licensing: Must hold a current NZ PSPLA COA and a clean NZ Driver's Licence.
  • Diagnostic Skills: You don't just "swap parts" — you understand signal paths, network latency, and logic-based troubleshooting.
  • Professionalism: You are comfortable representing the brand in a boardroom or on a construction site.
  • Ownership & Integrity: We value technicians who treat every site as if it were their own. This means having the integrity to do the job right even when no one is watching, the initiative to spot a potential issue before it becomes a fault, and the reliability our clients expect. If you're someone who takes ownership of a project from start to finish, you'll fit right in.
  • Generous With Your Experience: You enjoy passing on what you've learned. Explaining a system or a process comes naturally to you, and you take real satisfaction in bringing a technician along and watching them handle on their own something you taught them. You understand that the knowledge you share is what makes the whole team more capable.
  • Local Pride: You know your way around the city, aren't afraid of a bit of wind or rain, and enjoy working with a team that has a laugh but gets the job done.
Why Join the Carbon Security Team?
  • A Team That Has Your Back: We've built a culture based on mutual respect. No micro-management, just support.
  • Leading Rates for Leading Talent: We know the value of a high-level commercial tech. We offer a highly competitive salary package that reflects your expertise.
  • Tools for the Job: Take-home vehicle + Laptop + Phone.
  • Future-Proof Your Career: We invest in your growth with industry certifications to keep you at the top of your game.
  • Room to Grow: We're a small, growing team, so there's genuine scope to take on more responsibility and prove your leadership skills as the business expands.
  • Benefits: Additional benefits as you progress your career with us.
