Job summary

Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) in Blenheim is seeking a Tutorial Assistant for the Foundation Studies Programme. The fixed-term, part-time role (4 days per week, 28.8 hours) starts 19 November 2026 and supports Foundations learners aged 15-24.

Classroom hours are 9am–3pm, Monday to Thursday, with in-class and field trip support. Candidates should have experience with young people, a passion for helping learners thrive, and culturally inclusive practices.

An opportunity has arisen on our Blenheim Campus for a Tutorial Assistant in our Foundation Studies Programme Area. This is a fixed term, part time position (4 days per week, 28.8 hours/week) immediate start - 19 November 2026. The successful applicant will support our Foundations learners aged 15-24 years. Classroom hours are Monday to Thursday between 9am - 3pm. This role is primarily face to face helping learners build confidence and achieve success

The successful applicant will be required to:

• Support learners with understanding literacy and numeracy tasks


• Support the tutor both in the classroom and on field trips


• Perform classroom admin tasks as required by the tutor

To be successful in this role you will ideally have:

• Experience working with young people


• A passion for helping young people thrive


• Culturally inclusive practices


• A willingness to have fun and respond to learner needs
