Job summary

Lifeskills in Papakura, Auckland, seeks a dedicated tutor to support Rangatahi on the Foundation Skills pathway and help learners achieve the NZ Certificate in Foundation Skills Level 1 using kaupapa Maori frameworks and inclusive teaching approaches.

Applicants should hold NZQF level 2+ in relevant fields, NZ2754, and ideally teaching experience in NZ schools or PTEs; be committed to Te Ao Maori and prepared to complete required courses such as Unit Standard 4098.

Qualifications

• NZQF qualification at level 2 or higher (Foundation Skills, Study and Employment Skills, supporting learners with learning difficulties, or teaching)
• Preferably teaching experience in a NZ school or PTE context
• NZ2754 New Zealand Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education
• Understanding of teaching pedagogy
• Experience working with young people with learning difficulties or in a supported learning environment
• Experience working with early school leavers
• Keen understanding of Te Ao Maori
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Passion and energy for teaching and training others
• Unit Standard 4098, and a tertiary teaching certificate (level 4 or 5) (or be willing to complete these courses)
• Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, or hold a current NZ work permit.

Lifeskills is a well established private training organisation;and have been actively offering education and training since 1991. We are seeking an individual with experience in working with you, to join our teaching team in Papakura, Auckland. This is a full time, Monday to Friday position.

Ideally, applicants need to be comfortable working within a Maori and Pasifika framework and also have a passion for working with young people.

Through participating in this programme, our Rangatahi develop self-management and resilience strategies to maintain their well-being, learn to work well with others from various cultures, identify leadership qualities of a Rangatira, reflect on how these relate to their strengths, personal goals and future pathways, and apply basic skills in literacy and numeracy and digital technology.

As the tutor of this programme, you will be supporting learners to achieve the New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills Level 1.

We are looking for someone with:

A NZQF qualification at level 2 or higher (preferably in the area of Foundation Skills, Study and Employment Skills, supporting learners with learning difficulties, or teaching)
