Job summary

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury in Christchurch seeks a Resident Doctor Coordinator to oversee day-to-day RMO workforce coordination across Canterbury. You will develop rosters, manage leave, allocate relief staff, and ensure payroll accuracy while supporting training and service needs in a busy hospital environment.

You will work with Service Managers, Clinical Directors, RMOs and hospital teams, driving efficient operations and staff wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with Excel and payroll/ rostering systems familiarity.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask/manage priorities.
• Analytical/problem-solving capability and practical solutions.
• Initiative, accountability, and ability to learn quickly.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building across stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day coordination of the RMO workforce across Canterbury.
• Develop and maintain compliant rosters under relevant collective agreements.
• Manage leave requests and allocate relief staff for coverage.
• Coordinate service allocations to support RMO training and service needs.
• Ensure payroll information is accurate and processed on time.
• Maintain records and generate reports on RMO activity.
