Job summary

Idly Sambar, a South Indian dine-in bar and restaurant in Kingsland, Auckland, is hiring a Restaurant Manager on a permanent full-time basis. You will lead a small front-of-house team, manage day-to-day operations, and maintain high standards of service and compliance during busy weekday and weekend shifts.

The role requires at least 3 years in hospitality, a current Duty Manager Certificate, an LCQ, a Level 7 Management qualification, and fluent English. A NZ driver licence is an advantage.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of restaurant/hospitality experience.
• Current Duty Manager Certificate.
• Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ).
• Level 7 qualification in Management.
• Fluent and confident in English.
• Ability to lead and motivate a small team.
• Reliable, organised, and able to work independently.
• Available to work weekdays, weekends and late-night shifts on rotating roster.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the restaurant and bar.
• Lead, supervise and support a small front-of-house team.
• Prepare staff rosters and coordinate daily shifts.
• Maintain high standards of customer service and guest experience.
• Oversee opening and closing procedures.
• Ensure compliance with liquor licensing, food safety and workplace procedures.
• Manage customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory control.
• Work closely with kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth service.
• Help maintain a positive, professional and efficient team environment.
