Job summary

V.T Station Indian Eatery in Auckland is seeking a Permanent Restaurant Manager to take full operational responsibility with autonomy. You will lead approx. 12 staff, plan menus with chefs, manage stock and suppliers, and ensure compliance and outstanding customer experience.

The role offers guaranteed minimum hours (30–45 per week), paid overtime in peak periods, and competitive NZD hourly pay of 30–33 per hour.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of management/supervisory experience in a restaurant.
• Knowledge of Indian cuisine and spices for menu planning with chefs.
• You must be a confident decision-maker who can work independently with no supervision.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team while maintaining high service standards.
• Impeccable customer service and satisfaction record.
• Be business savvy and commercially minded.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily restaurant operations to ensure consistent service quality and customer satisfaction.
• Plan menus in consultation with the chefs, including pricing aligned with budgets and targets.
• Coordinate special functions, group bookings, and peak service periods.
• Manage stock procurement, supplier relationships, pricing, and inventory control.
• Maintain records of stock levels, staffing, rosters, and financial transactions.
• Ensure health, safety, and food hygiene regulations are met and dining areas are presented well.
• Monitor customer experience, respond to feedback, and resolve issues promptly.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and performance-manage front-of-house and kitchen staff.
• Prepare rosters, manage leave, and ensure compliance with employment requirements.
• Promote the restaurant via local marketing and social media to increase patronage.
