Mahitahi Trust in Auckland is seeking two Residential Support Workers for overnight care, one full-time (Sun–Thu, 11:00pm–7:00am) and one part-time (Fri–Sat, 11:00pm–7:00am). Based in Mt Albert, you will support residents in a safe, inclusive living environment, helping with daily living, skills development, and community activities.

Qualifications

  • Empathy and patience with a non-judgmental approach.
  • Physically capable and able to perform ADLs and medication management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team or independently.
  • Willingness to work weekend overnight shifts and casual shifts.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a trusting and therapeutic relationship with residents.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as grooming, meal preparation, and medication management.
  • Support residents in developing life skills, social skills, and coping mechanisms.
  • Promote community integration and participation by organizing and facilitating group outings and recreational activities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of residents' progress and support needs.
  • Ensure a safe and secure living environment by monitoring and addressing potential safety hazards.
  • Participate in relevant training as required to support safe practice in the role

We're seeking to appoint two Residential Support Workers to provide overnight support:

Position 1: Full-time (Sunday to Thursday, 11:00pm to 7:00am)

Position 2: Part-time (Friday and Saturday, 11:00pm to 7:00am)

Shift hours 11pm-7am

As a Residential Support Worker in the Mental Health and Addictions sector, you will play a crucial role in providing care, support, and assistance to individuals living with mental health issues and addiction challenges. When on shift, your role will involve contributing to a safe and supportive living environment, empowering residents to work towards recovery, and foster a sense of community and well-being within the residential setting.

Desired
  • Previous experience working in the mental health and addictions sector is an asset.
  • A qualification in support work or a related field such as the National Certificate in Mental Health & Wellbeing or equivalent
  • Current First Aid Certificate
