Job summary

Ka Puta Ka Ora Emerge Aotearoa is seeking a Wakeover Support Worker to provide an overnight, safe, calm, and supportive environment for rangatahi with high and complex needs. You’ll perform wellbeing checks, support healthy sleep routines, and help maintain a welcoming night-time atmosphere across a residential service.

Experience with youth in health or social services is preferred. Candidates must hold NZ Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or plan to achieve it, have a NZ driver’s licence, and be

Qualifications

• Experience working with youth in mental health, addiction, disability or social services is preferred.
• NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Level 4 or a plan to achieve this mandatory requirement.
• Full NZ working rights and a valid NZ driver’s licence.
• First Aid Certificate including CPR or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to work independently overnight and maintain safety.
• Ongoing learning and training opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, calm, and supportive overnight environment.

• Support medication processes as required.
• Complete documentation and administration tasks.
• Maintain hygiene and household standards within the service.

• Permanent full-time (40 hours per week) and permanent part-time (16 hours per week) opportunities
• Overnight shifts between 10:30pm and 7:00am, Monday to Sunday
• Hourly rate: $25.67 to $30.52 (placement will depend on the level of qualification)

As a Wakeover Support Worker, you will play an important role in creating a safe, calm, and supportive overnight environment. You'll complete regular wellbeing checks, support healthy sleep routines, and ensure the service remains welcoming and homely throughout the night.

Your responsibilities will also include:

• Maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
• Completing documentation and administration tasks.
• Supporting medication processes as required.
• Maintaining hygiene and household standards within the service.

We're looking for someone who is compassionate, resilient, and passionate about supporting young people to thrive.

You will bring:

• Experience working with youth, ideally within the mental health, addiction, disability, or social services sector.
• NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Level 4 or be able to demonstrate your current plans to achieve this mandatory requirement.
• The ability to work independently and confidently overnight.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Flexibility to work rostered overnight shifts between 10:30pm and 7:00am.
• A full New Zealand driver's licence.
• Full working rights in New Zealand.
• A current First Aid Certificate including CPR, or a willingness and ability to obtain one.
