Job summary

Mahitahi Trust in Auckland is seeking a compassionate Community Support Worker to empower individuals facing mental health or disability challenges through personalised support and community engagement.

You will develop and implement tailored support plans, assist with daily living activities, promote social inclusion, advocate for clients, collaborate with whanau and professionals, and maintain confidential client records.

Qualifications

  • Full and Valid NZ Driver's Licence.
  • Compassionate and enthusiastic to uplift and empower people.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to working with diverse populations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and services.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Community Support Worker to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing support to individuals who may be facing challenges related to mental health, disabilities, or other life circumstances. If you have a passion for helping others and creating a more inclusive community, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized support plans in collaboration with clients, focusing on their strengths, goals, and aspirations.

  • Provide practical assistance with daily living activities, including assisting the access tp with tasks to enhance clients' independence.

  • Foster social inclusion by supporting clients to participate in community activities, social events, and recreational opportunities.

  • Advocate for clients' rights and facilitate access to community resources and services.

  • Collaborate with whanau, healthcare professionals, and other support networks to ensure a holistic and person-centered approach to care.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records.

  • Full and Valid NZ Drivers License

  • Profound passion and enthusiasm to uplift and empower people

Desired:

  • Previous experience and/or qualification in support work or a related field

  • National Certificate in Mental Health & Wellbeing or equivalent

  • Current First Aid Certificate
