Job summary

Visionwest Community Trust in Tauranga is seeking energetic and compassionate individuals to support clients with daily activities and independent living. You will be part of a team that helps people live safely in their homes, performing tasks from personal care to light housekeeping and medication oversight.

The role offers flexible weekend scheduling, ongoing training, and a chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others in the Bay of Plenty region.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with clients.
  • Ability to establish rapport and provide person-centred support.
  • Certificates in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and support daily living activities.
  • Assist with home management tasks (laundry, cleaning, meal prep).
  • Monitor and prompt on medication as advised.
  • Assist with walking, transfers and basic mobility.

We're looking for energetic, compassionate individuals who are eager to learn and make a difference. If you have a caring nature and a positive attitude, we'd love to hear from you. Our services cover a wide area across Tauranga.

Our Support Workers are part of a dedicated and well-supported team, assisting our clients to live as independently as possible in their homes with a range of different tasks that include:

  • Personal Care: Assist with daily living activities, including meal planning and preparation according to the clients dietary requirements or request, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while respecting the client's dignity and privacy.
  • Home Management: Perform basic housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, cleaning, and organizing, to maintain a safe and hygienic living environment.
  • Medication Oversight: Monitoring, assisting, checking, observing or prompting the client when taking their medication.
  • Manual Handling: Assist clients with walking and transferring, ensuring their safety and comfort.

  • Experience & Qualifications: Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or equivalent.

  • Personality: A compassionate, patient, and empathetic attitude, with a genuine desire to help others.
  • Transportation: Reliable transportation to get to and from the client's home
  • Driver Licence: Must have a full or restricted driver's licence to be considered for the role
  • Working Rights: Be eligible to work in New Zealand. You must have the right to work in New Zealand, and you will be required to undergo police vetting and additional checks to be considered for this position.
