Job summary

Arataki Ministries in Whangarei, Northland, is seeking Residential Support Workers for a 24/7 Intensive Supported Rehab facility. The role is casual, covering staff sick leave and annual leave with AM, PM and Nocte shifts, including night coverage.

Candidates should have the Certificate in Mental Health and Addictions (L4) or equivalent, a full NZ driver’s licence, and a clear Police record. Interviews will be conducted as suitable candidates arise before the closing date.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Mental Health and Addictions (L4) or equivalent.
• Able to cover Nocte shifts overnight.
• Knowledge of mental health and addiction recovery with a strengths focus.
• Able to work as part of a team and autonomously.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Full and clean driver’s licence.
• Clear police record.

Arataki Ministries provide community mental health and addiction services in Whangarei and the wider Northland area. We currently have vacancies for Residential Support Workers based at our 24/7 6-bed flatting style community Intensive Supported Rehab facility located in Whangarei. This position is based on a as and when needed basis covering staff sicl leave and annual leave etc the shifts will be a range of AM, PM, and Nocte shifts Applicants must be willing to cover Nocte shift as well as AM and PM.

We endeavour to make a real difference for people with mental illness who would otherwise have a long stay in the acute mental health ward but whose special needs can be met in a community/NGO setting with style, innovation and a strengths focus.

The successful applicant will:

• Have completed the Certificate in Mental Health and Addictions (L4) or equivalent,
• Be available to cover Nocte shifts, which require staff to remain awake throughout the night.
• Have a sound knowledge of working with people with mental health and addiction issues and have a recovery and strengths focus
• Have common sense and ability to work as a member of the team and autonomously
• Have knowledge of community resources available is highly desirable
• Have good communication skills; verbal and written
• Have a full and clean driver’s licence
• Have a clear police record
