Job summary

Active Refrigeration in Dunedin is seeking an experienced Refrigeration/HVAC tradesperson to join our team. In this hands-on role, you’ll install, maintain and repair commercial and industrial systems, helping keep clients' critical equipment running smoothly.

Based in Dunedin, this full-time position offers overtime opportunities and a supportive team environment, with chances to expand your skills in commercial and industrial refrigeration through on-the-job training and development.

Qualifications

• Recognised Refrigeration/HVAC qualification or Certificate in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.
• Proven experience as a Refrigeration/HVAC tradesperson.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• NZ driver’s license valid for use in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair commercial and industrial Refrigeration/HVAC systems.
• Diagnose faults and troubleshoot Refrigeration/HVAC equipment.
• Carry out repairs, servicing and component replacements.
• Complete scheduled maintenance and respond to breakdowns.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of new systems.
• Maintain accurate service records and adhere to safety standards.

Refrigeration/HVAC Tradesperson – Dunedin

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Refrigeration/HVAC tradesperson to join the team at Active Refrigeration in Dunedin. Active Solutions Trading Limited T/a Active Refrigeration Otago.

In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial and industrial Refrigeration/ HVAC systems. You’ll play an important part in working with our team to keep our clients’ critical equipment and infrastructure running smoothly and reliably.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week, with overtime opportunities). Based in Dunedin, you’ll enjoy working in a supportive team environment while being able to manage your day and deliver great outcomes for our clients.

There’s also the opportunity to expand your skillset with training and experience in commercial and industrial refrigeration.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Working closely with clients to understand their needs and provide practical solutions
• Diagnosing faults and troubleshooting Refrigeration and HVAC systems
• Carrying out repairs, servicing, and component replacements
• Completing scheduled maintenance as well as responding to breakdowns
• Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new systems
• Maintaining accurate and detailed service records
• Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with health, safety, and environmental standards

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from people who bring:

• A recognised Refrigeration/HVAC qualification (or Certificate in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning)
• Proven experience as an Refrigeration/HVAC tradesperson
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• A full New Zealand driver’s license or hold a valid drivers licnence that can be used in New Zealand.
• Great communication skills and a customer-focused approach
• A strong commitment to health and safety
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow
