Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of a prominent civil engineering and construction company, seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a major infrastructure project in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. The role focuses on commercial and contractual leadership, cost control, procurement, and risk management from inception to completion.

You will ensure financial accuracy, prepare BoQ and tender docs, negotiate with subcontractors, and manage variations and claims, delivering value and compliance across the project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
• Minimum 7 years as a Quantity Surveyor in infrastructure or large projects.
• In-depth cost management, contract administration, and procurement experience.
• Knowledge of FIDIC and JBCC contracts.
• Proficiency in QS software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage project costs including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Prepare BoQ, cost estimates, and tender docs.
• Evaluate tenders and manage procurement.
• Administer contracts including variations and claims.
• Conduct site visits to verify valuations.
• Ensure compliance with contracts and advise on commercial risks.
• Prepare interim and final accounts and manage payments.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Maintain records of financial transactions and correspondence.
• Provide commercial guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
