Job summary

Brendan Murray Construction 2019 Limited in Christchurch is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to own commercial management across South Island projects, from budgeting to final accounts. You will work with Project Managers and Site Managers to keep costs under control and ensure subcontractors are paid accurately.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
• Understanding of NZS3910 or similar contract standards.
• Proficient cost management and document control platforms.
• Strong Excel skills for cost tracking and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Cost planning, budgeting and monthly cost reporting across projects.
• Subcontractor procurement including scopes, tendering, contracts and negotiation.
• Progress claims: preparing client claims and certifying subcontractor payments.
• Variations: pricing and closing out with a clear paper trail.
• Final accounts and cost-to-complete forecasting.
• Collaborate with Project Administrators to maintain accurate registers.

Quantity Surveyor | Christchurch Office | Full-Time

Take ownership of the commercial management on our South Island Region projects, from budget through to final account. You'll work closely with our Project Managers and Site Managers to keep costs under control, subcontractors paid correctly, and clients informed every step of the way.

What You'll Own

• Cost planning, budgeting and monthly cost reporting across your projects
• Subcontractor procurement: scopes, tendering, contracts and negotiation
• Progress claims: preparing client claims and certifying subcontractor payment claims
• Variations: identifying, pricing, negotiating and closing out, with the paper trail to back it up
• Final accounts and cost-to-complete forecasting
• Working alongside our Project Administrators to keep the document and variations registers accurate

What We're Looking For

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, at any level from intermediate through to senior
• Understanding of NZ standard construction contracts (NZS3910 or similar) and variation administration
• Confidence with cost management and document control platforms; Procore, Aconex, or similar
• Strong Excel skills for cost tracking and reporting
• Someone who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and doesn't let the numbers slip
