Job summary

Construction & Technical Recruitment in Christchurch, South Island, invites an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established cost consultancy with a strong project mix across commercial and property sectors.

You will handle feasibility studies, cost planning, measurement, tender analysis, procurement advice and contract administration, while nurturing client relationships and delivering value across the full construction lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Quantity Surveying experience in consultancy or professional cost management environment.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Strong estimating and cost planning capability; understanding of contracts and contract administration.
• Familiarity with ANZSMM and standard measurement practices; BIM advantageous.
• Experience with CostX or similar measurement/estimating software.
• NZIQS or RICS membership would be beneficial.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and highly regarded cost consultancy in Christchurch.

Working alongside an experienced team of Quantity Surveyors, you'll be involved across a diverse range of commercial and property projects, providing professional cost management and quantity surveying services from early feasibility and cost planning through to project delivery and completion. This would suit a QS who enjoys the consultancy side of the industry and is looking for a long-term opportunity with a business that offers good projects, strong technical support and genuine flexibility.

The Role

You will work closely with senior members of the team while taking responsibility for your own projects and client relationships. Your responsibilities will include:

• Feasibility studies and preliminary cost advice
• Estimating and detailed cost planning
• Measurement and preparation of schedules
• Tender documentation and tender analysis
• Procurement advice
• Contract administration
• Cost reporting and change management
• Value management and assessment of alternative design solutions
• Risk identification and cost management
• Liaising with clients, consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders
• Supporting projects through the full construction lifecycle

About You

Ideally, you will have 5+ years' Quantity Surveying experience, preferably within a consultancy or professional cost management environment.

You will also bring:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Good knowledge of commercial construction
• Strong estimating and cost planning capabilityAn understanding of construction contracts and contract administration
• Familiarity with ANZSMM and standard measurement practices
• Experience with CostX or similar measurement/estimating software
• An understanding of BIM would be advantageous
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
• NZIQS or RICS membership would be beneficial
• Bank funding/drawdown experience would be useful, although not essential

Most importantly, you'll be someone who is professional, commercially aware and comfortable working as part of an experienced consultancy team.
