Job summary

HEB Construction seeks a Quality Manager for the Waikare Gorge Realignment project near Napier. You will oversee all QA/QC activities, ensuring compliance with specifications, consent conditions and robust QA processes across the site.

You will drive continuous improvement, support timely handover at Practical Completion, and mentor site teams in quality practices on a major New Zealand infrastructure project.

Qualifications

• Experience with the startup & set up of quality management systems, with experience with Autodesk Forma highly desired.
• Strong decision‑making skills and the ability to confidently guide teams through quality processes.
• A collaborative, team‑focused approach with the ability to build positive working relationships across site and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring construction pack planning processes are followed and clearly understood by all site‑based project staff.
• Provide training and support so teams can effectively manage quality control, prevent issues, and close out any non‑conformances promptly and transparently.
• Carry out regular quality audits and reviews, ensuring ongoing quality management compliance on the project.
• Liaise with clients and stakeholders to support smooth and successful handover at Practical Completion.
• Implement and maintain quality management systems to ensure consistent, high‑standard delivery.

Quality Manager – Waikare Gorge Realignment Project

About the project

The Waikare Gorge Realignment project includes moving 4km of road (realignment) and a new bridge across the Waikare Gorge on State Highway 2 (SH2) at Pūtōrino north of Napier. The 4km realignment and new gorge bridge will make the highway safer and more resilient, offer better access for freight and communities and help avoid future emergency and recovery works in the gorge.

About the role

We’re looking for a highly skilled Quality Manager to oversee all quality assurance and control on the project. This role is responsible for ensuring the project is delivered exactly to the client’s specified requirements, with a strong focus on the implementation of robust QA systems & processes.

You’ll oversee all quality systems to ensure compliance with technical specifications and consent conditions, support timely handover at completion, and drive continuous improvement across project performance and delivery teams.
