Job summary

Brian Perry Civil in Wellington is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join the team delivering the Cook Strait Interislander Ferries – Wellington Port Infrastructure Early Works. This hands-on role focuses on quality assurance, documentation management, audits, and project handover, pairing field presence with close collaboration across project teams.

You’ll develop and manage ITPs, quality records and workpack documentation, coordinate documentation through Procore, and ensure records

Qualifications

• Qualification in Civil Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in quality assurance/control within civil/infrastructure construction.
• Strong knowledge of ITPs, quality documentation, and handover requirements.
• Familiarity with NZ construction standards and ISO 9001.
• Experience using Procore and Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Support project quality systems and procedures.
• Develop and manage ITPs, quality records, and workpack docs.
• Coordinate quality docs via Procore; ensure records are complete and submitted on time.
• Conduct desktop and site audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
• Collaborate with site engineers, subcontractors, and teams to close quality requirements.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team delivering the Cook Strait Interislander Ferries – Wellington Port Infrastructure Early Works. Working closely with the Quality Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring construction activities meet project requirements, quality standards, and client expectations. This is a hands‑on role focused on quality assurance, compliance, documentation management, auditing, and project handover, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being both in the field and working closely with project teams to achieve quality outcomes.

This is a fixed term role through to December 2028.

• Support the implementation and ongoing management of project quality systems, processes, and procedures.
• Develop, review, and manage Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality records, and workpack documentation.
• Coordinate quality documentation through Procore and ensure records are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
• Conduct regular desktop and site-based audits, inspections, and compliance reviews across project activities.
• Work closely with site engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams to close out quality requirements.
• Assist with project handover documentation, ensuring all quality records are reviewed, complete, and client‑ready.

What You’ll Bring

• A qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience in a Quality Engineer, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or engineering role within civil or infrastructure construction.
• Strong understanding of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality documentation, and project handover requirements.
• Knowledge of New Zealand construction standards and quality management systems, including ISO 9001 principles.
• Experience using document management platforms such as Procore and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organisation and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across project and subcontractor teams.
