Job summary

Franklin Smith Group in Christchurch, South Island, seeks a Site / Project Engineer to support specialist contractor delivering commercial foundations and civil structures.

You will balance project documentation, QA, and on-site delivery, coordinating with Project Managers, teams, subcontractors and clients to keep programs on track and ensure drawings and specs are met.

Qualifications

• Experience working on commercial foundations or civil structures.
• Exposure to reinforced concrete and structural concrete works.
• Strong understanding of construction documentation and QA.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Good communication skills and confidence dealing with site teams and subcontractors.
• Practical approach and willingness to spend time on site.

Join a specialist contractor delivering complex structures projects

We're working with a specialist Christchurch contractor delivering commercial foundations and civil structures projects, and we're looking for a Site / Project Engineer to join their team.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys a balance of project documentation, coordination and time on site. You'll work closely with Project Managers, site teams, subcontractors and clients to keep projects moving and ensure the technical and documentation requirements are being met.

The role

• Manage project documentation, QA and technical records.

About you

We're looking for a Site or Project Engineer with experience in civil construction, foundations or concrete structures.

You’ll ideally have:

• Experience working on commercial foundations or civil structures.


• Exposure to reinforced concrete and structural concrete works.


• Strong understanding of construction documentation and QA.


• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.


• Good communication skills and confidence dealing with site teams and subcontractors.

• Relevant engineering or construction qualification.

You don't need to be purely office-based or purely site-based. This role will suit someone who enjoys getting into the detail of the project while also being out on site seeing the work happen.
