Job summary

WORK - The Recruitment Co. is seeking an experienced Site Manager - Structural to lead a flagship project in Whangārei. This role focuses on safe delivery, quality workmanship, and on-time programme progress for a large-scale structural build.

You will manage subcontractors, coordinate site logistics, read structural drawings, and uphold NZ health and safety standards on a commercially driven site in the North Island region.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Site Manager or similar in structural builds.
• Ability to lead trades, coordinate subcontractors and maintain safety standards.
• Strong reading of structural drawings and programmes.

Are you an experienced Site Manager with a strong background in structural construction?

We are seeking a highly capable Site Manager - Structural to join a national construction company that is rapidly expanding its presence in New Zealand's structural, industrial, and commercial building sector.

With a reputation for delivering large-scale engineered building solutions across a range of industries, this business has built an impressive portfolio of aviation, warehousing, logistics, retail, manufacturing, and industrial projects nationwide.

Based in Whangārei, this approximately 8-month contract offers the opportunity to lead a significant structural build from the ground up, managing all site activities and ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all day-to-day site operations
• Drive project programme delivery and site productivity
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel
• Maintain high standards of health and safety compliance
• Ensure quality workmanship and adherence to specifications
• Coordinate site logistics and construction sequencing
• Monitor project milestones and proactively resolve issues
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders

About You

• Proven experience as a Site Manager, Senior Foreman, or similar leadership position
• Strong structural steel, industrial, commercial, or large-scale construction experience
• Demonstrated ability to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget
• Excellent planning, leadership, and communication skills
• Strong understanding of NZ construction and health & safety requirements
• Ability to read and interpret construction and structural drawings
• Relevant trade qualification or construction management background preferred
