Job summary

Smith Crane & Construction in Christchurch seeks an experienced Site Supervisor to join our civil team. You will coordinate site activities, lead crews and subcontractors, and ensure work is delivered safely, on schedule and to a high standard.

We value hands-on leaders with a strong grip on earthworks, drainage, roading, concrete works and bridge construction, plus the ability to read engineering drawings. NZ driver's license and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years in civil construction with 2+ years in supervision.
• Strong knowledge of earthworks, drainage, roading, concrete works and bridge construction.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specs.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Full NZ driver's license (Class 2 preferred).
• Willingness to travel 11 days on, 3 off schedule.

We are looking for an experienced Site Supervisor to join our growing team. If you're a hands‑on leader with strong civil construction experience and a passion for delivering quality projects safely and efficiently, we'd love to hear from you.

Working across a variety of civil construction projects, you'll be responsible for coordinating site activities, leading crews, managing subcontractors, and ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to a high standard.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Supervising day-to-day civil construction activities on site.

What We’re Looking For:

• Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in civil construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of earthworks, drainage, roading, concrete works and bridge construction.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Solid understanding of health & safety regulations and compliance.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Full NZ driver’s license (Class 2 preferred).
• The ability to travel out of town for work on 11 days on 3 off schedule
